Hannah

Hannah, Oh Hannah.  You are amazing.  This session was impromptu.  I put out a call on Facebook because I just wanted to go out and photograph someone in my new spot I found.  Along comes Hannah, looking cool and having the perfect wardrobe in a few hours notice.  We hiked, 3 miles round trip to this spot.  It's Indiana, but I swear we felt like we were in California or Utah, just somewhere else entirely.  The light was hidden in the beginning of our session, but soon made an appearance in this light, airy and pink way.  I did a few happy dances that day.  Thanks for being my muse, Hannah J.

Motherhood

One of my favorite times of the year is when I hold my Mother's Day sessions.  The bond between a mother and child is like no other.  The love that we are able to give to these little human beings (or big human beings) is remarkable.  The worry, joy, happiness, exhaustion, fear, delight, love that these children bring into our world is worth every second.  I can say without a doubt the best and most accomplished thing I have done in my entire life is raising my two boys.  I wouldn't trade any  moment of it.  They are simply my world.

Here are a few black and white portraits from some of our mini sessions.  I love a good black and white photo because I feel like it strips down what the eye is viewing.  You are not looking at colors, you are looking at emotions.  In these photos, all you will see is pure love.  Mom's doing there "thang".

Happy Mother's Day to all!

Kya Senior Session I Valparaiso, IN

This GORGEOUS soul, Kya, rocked her senior session.  Not only is she a gorgeous gal, but a sweetheart as well.  I had such a good time scootin' around downtown Valpo with her and her Mom.  Some clients, you are instant friends with and that is definitely how I felt with them.  We just got each other.  I wish nothing but the best for this wonderful gal in her future.  One of my favorite senior sessions to date.

Thanks for stopping by!

B Family Lifestyle Session I St. John, Indiana

I've had the pleasure of photographing this family now three times.  This session, I learned so much more about them.  What an AMAZING family.  I won't go into specifics, but more families should be like this one.  They have a heart of gold and don't bat an eye about it.  If you think your life is hectic, theirs is ten fold, but has to also be ten fold in the rewarding department.

We started out the session making some yummy cake balls, coloring, hanging out in their rooms.  We took some time with the baby, had a little meltdown over not seeing the photos on the back of the camera (four kids, one out of four melting down is pretty good odds).  The photographer shouldn't have promised that and forgot.  Sheesh.  It was a beautiful day so we got some outside time too.  We did a little bit of everything and it was perfect.  As you can see when you scroll along, there is one kiddo that loves the camera a little more than the others and may or may not have changed wardrobes half way through.  She may have been the one who also needed to see the back of that camera.  Can you blame her, she loves that spot light?!

Thank you for stopping by and taking a look!

I LOVE that she loves to read. I LOVED even more that her brother and sister could bother the crud out of her and she kept reading and acted like they weren't there :)

This one LOVES the camera.

LaPorte, IN I Harber Boys, Garwood Orchards

Bryceston and Brantley's Mama has been with me since I first started.  My first shoot with her was Bryceston's newborn session (about three years ago?), when I look back at that day, she literally should have fired me and told me to leave.  I had no business doing newborns at that time.  I think I was using my camera in auto, I tried posing him on a piece of foam instead of a posing bag, I put him in some pretty awful props.  I'm sorry Christina, thank goodness you saw past that.  I LOVE that I have families who have stuck with me and have hopefully seen me grow.  My style has definitely evolved and I feel is evolving even more in the past few months.  I'm excited to see where next year takes me.

For this session, we went to Garwood Orchards in LaPorte, IN.  We started this session mid afternoon, which is not my normal, but I loved the different looks it gave.  This day was wild with the sun and overcast.  The sun literally would shine for two minutes and then the sky would turn dark.  It was flipping back and forth like that through the entire session which gave the photos an array of warm tones and cool tones, a little of both.  I usually prefer the sun to be shining for my sessions, but the overcast photos from this day were my favorite.

Here are a few of our photos from our session, I hope you enjoy!
